CLUB RESULTS

LADIES GOLF

1st September 1020 and what a glorious first day of spring it was. The magnolias were were absolutley beautiful and the birds were singing wonderful tunes. Fourty eight ladies turned up to play in the final round of the Strokeplay Championship and the LGU competition.

There were also 10 nine holers and their competition was won in no uncertain terms by Rhonda Donald with 25 points followed by Janet Luoni with 18.

Good scores for the 18 holers: Tops was Pauline Mason with 66, this despite a 12 on the 14th, followed by Marg Steedman, Maureen Kennedy 68, Pauline Mills, Robyn Croy 69, Sue Smith, Karen Prestage, Jeanne Gomas 71, Glenys Wheeler, Sue Conrad, Ann Percy 72, Judy Stubbs 73, Eva Mahu, Sally Sherson, Annette Tylee 74.

Silver Gross Winner: Liz Hodgson 240, Runner up: Ann Marie Harland 257, Net Winner: Pauline Mills 216, Runner up: Liz Hodgson, Bronze Gross Winner: Ngaire Hall 283, Net Runner up Ann Percy 286, Bronze Net Winner: Sue Conrad, Runner up: Marg Steedman 219.

LGU Results: Silver: Pauline Mills 69, Bronze 1: Jeanne Gomas 71, Bronze 2: Judy Stubbs 73, Bronze 3: Pauline Mason 66.

Only two got two's today, Robyn Croy & Karyn Prestage were the proud recipients of 5 balls each.

LGU Results for the 25/08/10: Silver Liz Hodgson 68, Bronze 1 Ngaire Hall 69.Bronze 2 Genee Ludlam 63, Bronze 3 Sue Conrad 66.

MENS GOLF

The Wally Jones Memorial concluded on Saturday and the winner was Ken Detman with a two best of three rounds gross score of 149, by three shots from Murray Robertson. The associated nett competition was won by Prince Ripo with a nett two round score of 128 - a whopping 14 under par!

Best nett scores on the day were; Prince Ripo 61, Leighton McCann 62, Brian Hodges 63, Ken Detman 64, Richard Rennie 65, John Filleul 66 and Huck Lawson 67. Very good scoring on a soft golf course.

Next weekend the Taumarunui Golf Club are hosting the Century 21Realty sponsored sixtyfirst annual Lefthanders Tournament and the Saturday draw is as under. There is a capacity field (from all over the North Island) of 136 so there will be limited room for local right handers to join the Lefties in the spirits Tournament.

There will not be a draw fopr the locals and the very latest time they can tee off is 8.00am off the ninth tee and 8.15 am off the first and on Sunday the course will be closed to all casual play.

VETS GOLF

Vets day - weekly on Tuesday. Assemble by 11.45 for a clubhouse draw with tee off at 12 noon. Visiting vets are very welcome.

Results

Last Tuesday there were 33 vets in the field and good scores came from Santohk Bhullar with 41 points, Don Kennedy, Ron McFetridge and Huck Lawson all with 40, from Dick Johnson (showing some form for the Lefties next week) Pat Keys and Terry Kay all with 39. On Friday the Plateau Vets competition was held at Mangakino. Best Taumarunui scores came from Hugh Barton 38 points and John Owen 37. Mangakino won the ' Little Man' Trophy whilst Taumarunui are currently leading the Moawhango Shield.
